The San Francisco Metropolis Commission for Orthodox Missions & Evangelism (C.O.M.E), was founded in 1991 by Metropolitan Anthony of blessed memory and a group of lay leaders to: educate and engage the faithful of the Metropolis in Evangelism and Mission; fulfill the The Great Commission; assist in the establishment and growth of mission parishes to achieve self sufficiency; further the work and programs of the Orthodox Christian Mission Center (OCMC) in St. Augustine, Florida; and enhance inter-jurisdictional cooperation in the establishment of domestic mission parishes. This ministry continues with the blessing and support of Metropolitan Gerasimos and the leadership of Father Theodore Dorrance and a full-time Assistant Director, Thomaida Hudanish. C.O.M.E. offers a paradigm for all metropolises to emulate, taking a proactive approach to Outreach, Missions & Evangelism and the intentional planting of new parishes.

Father Theodore outlines the process of planting the parish of Beaverton, Oregon and nurturing it to a full-fledged parish, supported 100% by stewardship, with a parochial school, large bookstore and vibrant ministries.
