The focus of this issue of PRAXIS on the topic of “Women in the Church” directs our attention as Orthodox Christians and religious educators to many of our basic theological teachings about personhood, holiness, service and the Church.
We have seen and continue to see Christ’s grace and salvation in the holiness and service of women in Orthodox Christianity. In the history and tradition of our Faith, multitudes of women have been blessed and honored as saints. They lived holy lives, dedicated to God, showing the love of Christ in every word and deed.
This example and that of many women in Orthodoxy continues to be one of service: service in worship, service in teaching, service offered to those in need and service in the name of Christ.
