Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Departments of Internet Ministries and Communications Offer Live Broadcast of Patriarchal Divine Liturgy at Holy Trinity Cathedral, NY

New York -- On Sunday, March 10th, Orthodox Christians worldwide will be able to watch the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, celebrated by His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew live on the Internet from the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City. The Patriarchal Divine Liturgy will be available from the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America's the web site at: http://www.goarch.org/live.html. The broadcast will begin with Orthros at 8:30 AM Eastern Time followed by the Divine Liturgy at 10:00 AM Eastern Time.

His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, spiritual leader of 300 million Orthodox Christians worldwide, will celebrate the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy with the hierarchs of the Holy Eparchial Synod of the Archdiocese, members of the Standing Council of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in America (SCOBA), His Eminence Archbishop Leo of Karelia and All Finland, His Eminence Archbishop Gennadios of Italy, His Eminence Metropolitan Apostolos of Moschonision, members of His All Holiness’ Patriarchal party.

In addition, 44 Orthodox Christians will receive the “Offikion” (or title) “Archon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate of Constantinople” in an investiture ceremony following the Patriarchal Divine Liturgy, entering the order of laymen recognized internationally for outstanding service, stewardship, dedication and loyalty to the Mother Church and the spread of Orthodoxy. The Offikion of Archon is the highest honor bestowed upon a layman of the Orthodox Church, reaching back to the era of the Byzantine Empire. The American Order of Archons is named after St. Andrew the Apostle, and currently comprises of more than 700 members.
