FDF 2017 Faith, Dance, Fellowship, largest Greek Orthodox Youth Gathering in the United States

SAN DIEGO – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Geron of America arrived in San Diego Thursday Feb. 16,  for the 2017 Folk Dance and Choral Festival of the Metropolis of San Francisco, a four day celebration of Faith, Dance and Fellowship taking place this year at Town and Country Resort Hotel here in San Diego.

Upon Arrival, Archbishop Demetrios was welcomed by His Eminence Metropolitan Gerasimos of San Francisco, Bishop Apostolos of Medeia, Metropolis Philoptochos President Jeannie Ranglas, Archon Theofanis Economidis, FDF Director Fr. Gary Kyriacou, and hundreds of Dance Festival Participants at the opening ceremony of 2017 FDF.

On Friday Feb. 17, the Archbishop attended a full day of semi-final dance competitions and the choral competition, all taking place in the two large performance stages of the hotel’s Conference Center. More than 2,500 young people are participating in the events and the total number of attendees is estimated to surpass three thousands. Parallel to the competition events there is multitude of workshops geared towards elementary, middle school, high school, college students, and even workshops for parents.
