The Archdiocese of America's Department of Greek Education Announces Collaboration with “Ellinopoula.com”

As part of its campaign to support Greek schools, the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America's Department of Greek Education is pleased to announce its collaboration with Ellinopoula.com, the award-winning Greek language e-learning platform.

Ellinopoula.com is designed to make Greek for kids exciting by integrating games, videos, and thousands of interactive educational activities with Greek history and culture. The platform won the Award for Best Online and Distance Learning platform for teaching Greek to Diaspora kids, at the 5th Annual Education Leaders Awards in Athens, Greece.

Dr. Anastasios Koularmanis, Director of the Archdiocese’s Department of Greek Education, stated: “In these trying times, the support of the entire Greek community is necessary for Greek schools to carry out their virtuous function of teaching the Greek language and Hellenism to the children of the Diaspora. Only if we work together will we be able to renew and enhance Greek education in America.”

Utilizing a generous grant by the Stavros Niarchos Foundation, the Department of Greek Education will subsidize the cost of the Ellinopoula platform for any of the Archdiocese District afternoon or weekend Greek schools programs wishing to purchase the platform for their students.

Ellinopoula.com has proven its effectiveness and popularity with Greek schools, teachers, and parents worldwide. According to Dr. Katerina Lagos, Director of the Hellenic Studies Program at California State University, “Ellinopoula has taken Greek language instruction into the new millennium and the platform has proven to be highly effective through its different approaches to learning needed by students today.”

Ellinopoula.com helps students learn effectively through breakthrough proprietary software and entertaining content. The platform’s core smart-teaching function - the “Learning Path” - adapts to each student’s progress, and the breadth of the content spans more than 300 structured lessons, 800 educational videos, and 7,000 fun games, educational and interactive exercises.

The platform’s objective is twofold: to teach the Greek language and pass on Hellenic heritage, with many original videos and themed collections such as “Heroes of 1821,” "March 25th," "Greek Easter," "Hagia Sophia," "Easter at the Village,” and "Summer in Greece."

Ellinopoula.com helps schools and teachers by offering a very wide range of Hellenic and other educative content, teaching aids, fun gamification methods to motivate kids, homework building tools, as well as monitoring & assessment functions. The educational content ranges from preschool (Pre-K) level all the way through to “Ellinomatheia” prep courses. Tools such as the “Grammar Collection” allow teachers to create homework based on specific grammatical phenomena, while the “Themed Collections” allow them to focus a lesson on a particular theme such as weather, or seasons, or sports for example.

The platform provides a variety of easy-to-use reports for each student or class, enabling teachers to make data-driven adjustments to address individual student needs. Ellinopoula.com also helps schools motivate students to complete their homework by recognizing a “Student of the Month” who receives a congratulatory diploma-award.

Mrs. Anna Sakkis, Director of Ellinopoula.com, stated: “We are honored by the Department of Greek Education for selecting Ellinopoula.com for this collaboration. It is up to all of us to provide Greek schools with all the support they can get to cultivate our youth for a bright future, equipped with the legacy of our wonderful Greek tradition. We remain committed to passing on the Greek language and Hellenism to the next generation.”
