Bible Readings

The English Gospel text used is from 'The Holy and Sacred Gospel', and the English text of the Acts of the Apostles and Epistles is used from 'The Apostolos', both by Holy Cross Press, Brookline, MA. The English Old Testament text is taken from the Revised Standard Version of the Bible.

The Revised Standard Version of the Bible is copyrighted 1946, 1952, 1971, and 1973 by the Division of Christian Education of the National Council of the Churches of Christ in the U.S.A. and used by permission.

Founded in April 1987, the small community of St. Isaac of Syria Skete follows the "skete" or semi-eremitic form of monastic life which first arose in the 4th century monastic community founded by St. Macarius the Great in the deserts at Scetis, Egypt.  Their iconography is available for purchase at www.skete.com.
