Cassandra Garibaldi Appointed New Director of the Metropolitan’s Office and Religious Education for the Metropolis of Boston

His Eminence Metropolitan Methodios announced the appointment of Cassandra Garibaldi as the new Director of the Metropolitan’s Office and Religious Education effective October 1.

At the same time, the Metropolitan expressed the gratitude and appreciation of clergy and laity alike to Eleni Kalioras who is transitioning out of her current role at the Metropolis to begin a new career path. Eleni served our Metropolis faithfully and will continue to be involved in our special events and ministries, including the Philoxenia House. We pray that the Lord will bless Eleni with good health and joy as she begins this new and exciting chapter in her life.  

 Cassandra​ Garibaldi​ is a native of Dracut, Massachusetts, and grew up attending the Transfiguration Church in Lowell, MA. She was actively involved in the youth ministries of the ​Transfiguration ​parish including GOYA and Vacation Church School as well as serving the parish as a chanter. She has been a staff member at the Metropolis of Boston Camp since in 2009. 

 Cassandra is a graduate of Hellenic College with a degree in Religious Studies and Elementary Education, graduating with honors. She served the college as an Admissions Ambassador and Resident Advisor. After completing Hellenic College, she continued her studies at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, graduating with a Masters in Divinity.

 During these years, Cassandra taught Church School at the Saint Nicholas Church in Lexington. She served as an intern at the Metropolis for five years, assisting with various tasks and ministries​, including the Registry Office.​ ​ Cassandra has served the Metropolis of Boston Camp (MBC) for the past ten years as a ​s​taff member and Girl’s Director. She assisted in the preparation of the Orthodox Life sessions for our campers. 

 For the past four years, Cassandra worked in the Archdiocesan National Office of Youth and Young Adult Ministries, creating three curricula for parishes, OCF, and families. She also created and executed summer camp staff trainings for Metropolis camps across the country. She served the national office of Camping Ministries, creating and providing resources, training, and Orthodox Life sessions for metropolis summer camps across America. 

In addition to serving as the new Director of the Metropolitan’s Office, Cassandra will work closely with Panos Coufos, the Director of Youth and Young Adult Ministries/MBC Director in coordinating religious education programs for young and old alike throughout our 62 parishes. Pano and Cassandra have already begun reaching out to our clergy and Sunday​ School teachers to begin the conversation on how we can work together to strengthen our catechetical ministry.  

 We welcome Cassandra back to our Metropolis office and look forward to her ministry with us!
