NEW YORK – The 2018 annual Staff Development Seminar, organized by the Direct Archdiocesan District Office of Education, will be held Tuesday, November 6 (Election Day), at St. Demetrios High School in Astoria. The Seminar aims at offering in-service training to teachers who serve in the District’s Greek-American day schools, as well as the Greek afternoon/Saturday schools.

“Using Data to Drive Instruction,” will be the general theme of a series of presentations and workshops of the Seminar for the teachers of the English program of the New York City parochial day schools, which is being held under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America.

For the Greek program, the DAD Office of Education has invited two exceptional educators – Mrs. Kalliopi Amygdalou-Dimitrakopoulos - Μ. Ed in Bilingual, ESL, Multicultural Concentration/ University of Massachusetts, and Mrs. Anna Sakkis, manager of the “Ellinopoula Project”.  In the first session, Mrs. Amygdalou will refer to the “The Impact of the Comprehensive Examination in Modern Greek as a foreign language achievement test.” In the second session, Mrs. Sakkis will present the new educational program “Ellinopoula Project” through interactive learning.

All the teachers of the Direct Archdiocesan District as well as those serving in the neighboring areas are invited to attend the November 6, Professional Development Seminar and benefit from motivating and useful workshops.
