Three New Auxiliary Bishops for the Archdiocese of America

New York, NY, – The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese announces that, today, the Rev. Archdeacon Gerasimos Michaleas, recently appointed Chief Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod; the Very Reverend Savas Zembillas, Chancellor of the Archdiocese and the Very Rev. Andonios Paropoulos, Director of the Department of Philanthropy of the Archdiocese, have been elected unanimously by the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate as Auxiliary Bishops to the Archbishop of America. The newly elected Bishops have been given the titles of Krateia, Troas and Fasiane respectively.

The new Bishops will continue to offer their services in the positions they have today and at the same time will serve as Auxiliary Bishops to the Archbishop of America.

His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, upon receiving news of the election of the new bishops, said: “The Archdiocese is looking forward to a creative, substantive and truly blessed archpastoral ministry of the newly elected bishops due, not only to their significant service to the Church for many years, but also to their outstanding qualities as members of the clergy.”
