February 27, 2022 Marks 40th Anniversary of Dedication of St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine

February 27, 2022 will mark the 40th anniversary of the dedication of the St. Photios Greek Orthodox National Shrine.

Archbishop Iakovos of blessed memory presided over the dedication in 1982, stating, “This Shrine is dedicated to those who came here 414 years ago in search of freedom and to escape the most barbaric oppression, and for the contribution they made to our country.” His Eminence, before entering the Shrine, unveiled a plaque that pays tribute to the first colony of Greek refugees who worshiped here in 1777.

Since that day, supporters and volunteers have given their time, talent, and generosity to improve and restore the Shrine and preserve the memory of Greek faith, culture, and history in the United States.

Please consider making a gift today in honor of this anniversary and to support the Shrine and its mission.
