St. John Chrysostom Clergy Syndesmos Hosted at Cathedral of St. Paul in Hempstead, NY

On Monday, February 13th, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros met with the St. John Chrysostom Clergy Syndesmos of the Archdiocesan District at the Cathedral of St. Paul, Hempstead, NY.  His Eminence spoke to all the clergy, thanking them for their ministry and wished them, as well as all parishioners of the Archdiocesan District, a blessed and spiritually uplifting Great and Holy Lent.  His Eminence encouraged the clergy to continue to engage with their parishioners and focus on the importance and meaning of Holy Week and Pascha.

At the suggestion of His Eminence and the Archdiocesan District Chancellor Rev. Fr. Elias Villis, the parishes of our Archdiocesan District will make a concerted effort to support the GOA Earthquake Relief Fund that seeks to raise funds to assist with the immediate needs and long term implications of the devastating and deadly earthquakes in Turkey and Syria.

Archdiocesan District Chancellor, Rev. Fr. Elias VIllis and Syndesmos President, Rev. Fr. Peter Orfanakos thanked Fr. Christopher Constantinides, Proistamenos of the Cathedral of St. Paul, and their Parish Council and parishioners for their wonderful hospitality.  Fr. Elias welcomed newly assigned and ordained clergy into the District and updated all the clergy present on the upcoming Archdiocesan Clergy Laity Congress - scheduled to take place on April 1, 2023 at the Archangels Church in Stamford, CT.

Reports and updates regarding the following were also given and discussed: Religious Education and Oratorical Festival; Youth Ministry; Camp Saint Paul; Ionian Village; Young Adult Ministry; Stewardship, Outreach and Evangelism Resources; Marriage Preparation Seminars; Saint Anastasia Fellowship (addictions ministry); Youth Protection Training and Screening; combined NJ Metropolis and Archdiocesan District Clergy Retreat; and the planned Archdiocesan District Servant Leadership Award Banquet (May 30th).
