Saint Nicholas Shrine Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine Time Lapse Video

Over 20 years since the original was destroyed during 9/11 attacks, the new St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine opened in lower Manhattan in December 2022. EarthCam contributed funds along with the church to cover the documentation of the complete ground-up rebuild in this 4K time-lapse, generating millions of images from dozens of angles. “We are grateful to have this historic and impactful time-lapse of the entire reconstruction of the St. Nicholas National Shrine. It's an exciting way for all New Yorkers, and the entire global Orthodox community to see the church as it rises from the ground once again. EarthCam's creative work expresses how this important sanctuary for worship always will be a source of collective healing and restoration for the Greek Orthodox Community, for New York City, for America and the world.” - Michael Psaros, Chairman, Friends of St. Nicholas Watch the entire construction process from 2015-2022 for the church, which was designed by Santiago Calatrava, who also designed the Oculus World Trade Center Transportation Hub.
