Saint Basil Academy Newsletter, Fall 2021

Oli Mazi:

All Together

Dear friends and supporters of Saint Basil Academy,

We hope that this newsletter finds you safe and well. We miss seeing everyone’s faces on campus due to ongoing Covid restrictions, but please know that you are in our hearts and minds always. And we can’t wait to see you again once things open up!

Currently, we are busy preparing for the upcoming Christmas visit of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros. Once again, this event is unfortunately not open to the public because of safety reasons. But we want to have all of you be as much a part of it as possible, even if we can’t be together physically.

To this end, we are carrying out a special holiday campaign called Oli Mazi: All Together. Saint Basil residents and staff will create special Christmas ornaments with the names of our Christmas donors displayed on them. During His Eminence’s visit, we will trim our tree with the ornaments so that at least symbolically, we can all be there together.

We also have some very exciting news! Saint Basil Academy is proud to announce the creation of a brand new fund that will entirely support enriching and beneficial activities for our children that are experiential in nature. We know that to best serve our children, we must provide them not only with things but with experiences. The Saint Basil Experience Fund will do just that. It will pay for things like travel, museum trips, outdoor excursions, horseback riding, skiing and snow tubing, and other activities that are experiential in nature. In providing our children with experiences like these, we help them engage with life in healthy, productive, and meaningful ways.

Our dear friends at the Philoptochos Chapter 3014 of Annunciation Greek Orthodox Cathedral of New England are helping us launch the Saint Basil Experience Fund with an extremely generous pledge of $5,000. We are proud and grateful to call Philoptochos Chapter 3014 the inaugural donors of the Saint Basil Experience Fund! For more information or to make a tax-deductible donation to the Fund, please contact the Fund Administrator, Lauren Biniaris at [email protected] or (845) 422-6141.

In closing, we want to express how grateful we are for our entire Saint Basil community and for the ongoing love and support you provide.

Beautiful things are happening, even in these very trying times. Thank you for being part of that beauty.

Yours in Christ,

Father Costa
