PRAXIS Spring 2020: Orthodox Youth Around the World

PRAXIS Spring 2020: Orthodox Youth Around the World

The Spring 2020 edition of PRAXIS magazine is now fully available online here: Volume 19, Issue 3: Orthodox Youth around the World. The magazine is a publication of the Department of Religious Education (DRE).

The topic of Orthodox Youth around the World was selected to honor the Christmas 2019 declaration of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew that 2020 would be the “year of pastoral renewal and due concern for the youth.” We obtained personal letters written by Orthodox Christian young people in Albania, Greece, South Korea and Australia, as well as the United States. Through their eyes, readers will get a glimpse of what it’s like to be an Orthodox Christian young person in those countries.

Months ago, when we began planning this issue, no one fully anticipated the global crisis we now find ourselves in. Perhaps it is fortuitous, then, that in this time when we are united in shared suffering, these letters may help connect us with our Orthodox brothers and sisters around the world and unite under our shared Faith, even in a small way.

The issue also examines what a post-pandemic parish might look like and includes, as always, offerings from the Center for Family Care to our Family Connection and Parent to Parent sections.

Note for subscribers: Due to cost-saving measures of the Archdiocese during the pandemic, the DRE elected not to order a traditional print run of the issue but to make it available in digital format only at this time. In light of this, current paid subscriptions will be extended by one issue as a courtesy. You may contact us at (646) 519–6300 or [email protected]with any questions or concerns.
