A vibrant, active ministry for men broadens a parish’s family of ministries and provides to a key demographic a forum for greater participation in the life of the Church. As an extension of the Center for Family CarePhiladelphia endeavors to promote activity to understand one’s affiliation with the Church as life’s overarching reality—lived out daily.

The experience of men creates a natural inclination for association. Through baptism and chrismation, men become true brothers in Christ. A ministry for men offers this peer group with an important additional outlet to realize life’s greatest vocation—growing in the image and likeness of God—in an environment of goodwill, mutual accountability, and support.

We are a new ministry and will be systematically building our resources. Like us on Facebook to keep up with us.

Mission Statement

The mission of Philadelphia is to provide men of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America with a platform for spiritual formation through multifaceted programming. It aims to foster the basic characteristics of the Faith and its praxis as men intentionally engage their roles in Church, home, and society.

A Common Goal

While there are a number of ministries for men within the Archdiocese, the intention of Philadelphia is to inspire the creation of programs where none exist and offer a unifying scope of objectives. Since group size, meeting frequency, and type of programming will vary from one parish to another, the outline of activities can be adapted to best fit the needs of each ministry. Philadelphia emphasizes the following fundamental principles of the Orthodox Christian ethos:

  • Worship
  • Education
  • Service
  • Witness
  • Fellowship
