New Books Available on Orthodox Marketplace

Three new valuable guides for the Orthodox faithful are now available on Orthodox Marketplace.

Father Eugen J. Pentiuc is the author of the first two books. Fr. Eugen is a professor of Biblical Studies and Christian Origins and of Old Testament and Semitic Languages at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. In The Old Testament in Eastern Orthodox Tradition, he provides a general overview and analysis of the primary ways in which the Old Testament has been received, interpreted, and conveyed within Eastern Orthodox tradition. His book Hearing the Scriptures is a guide that assists the Orthodox community in understanding the interplay of Scripture and hymnography characteristic of Holy Week liturgical services in the Byzantine Orthodox tradition.

Eve Tibbs, the author of A Basic Guide to Eastern Orthodox Theology, has devoted her career to translating the Orthodox faith to an evangelical audience and has over twenty years of experience teaching this material to students. This book offers a comprehensive yet accessible introduction to the beliefs and practices of the Eastern Orthodox Church for Western readers. Assuming no prior knowledge of Orthodox theology, the book covers the basic ideas of Eastern Orthodox Christianity from its origins at Pentecost to the present day.
