Ordination Announcement of Bishop-elect Athenagoras of Nazianzos

NEW YORK – The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America received with much joy and gratitude the  news from the Holy and Sacred Synod of the Ecumenical Patriarchate, that at the recommendation of His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, the Holy and Sacred Synod elected on May 19th, 2021 the Archimandrite of the Ecumenical Throne Athenagoras Ziliaskopoulos, as His Auxiliary Bishop, with the title “Bishop of Nazianzos.” The Ecumenical Patriarch assigned His newly elected Bishop to continue to serve in America under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros as the Chief Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod, as the Spiritual Advisor of the Ladies Philoptochos Society, and at Hellenic College Holy Cross School of Orthodox Theology.

The ordination of Bishop-elect Athenagoras of Nazianzos to the episcopacy will take place on Saturday, June 5th, 2021 at the Holy Cross Chapel at Hellenic College Holy Cross in Boston, Massachusetts. Orthros will commence at 8 am and Divine Liturgy at 9 am.
