Metropolitan Anthony of San Francisco Hospitalized

His Eminence Metropolitan Anthony of San Francisco was admitted to U.C. Davis Medical Center in Sacramento, California, on Thursday, November 18, with a diagnosis of Burkitt’s lymphoma, a malignancy of the lymph nodes. Metropolitan Anthony is undergoing intensive treatment with chemotherapy and immunotherapy. His response thus far has been favorable. His condition will require continued evaluation and treatments over the next several months.

His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, who was with Metropolitan Anthony at the Medical Center on Sunday, November 21 and Monday, November 22, encourages the faithful throughout the Archdiocese “to pray fervently to our good and merciful God for the restoration of the health of our beloved brother and friend and valiant co-worker in the vineyard of the Lord, Metropolitan Anthony.”
