Juneteenth Ecumenical Prayer Service at Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at World Trade Center (New York) June 19, 2024

With the blessing of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, Saint Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church and National Shrine at World Trade Center (New York) will host the first Juneteenth Ecumenical Prayer Service on June 19, 2024, at 12 p.m. ET.

Juneteenth, while commemorating the end of slavery, also represents the enduring victory of Black Americans in the face of prejudice, racism, and bigotry. Slavery and discrimination are undeniably tragic parts of American history. This Ecumenical Prayer Service, with the participation of Christian leaders from various denominations, aims to bring faith and healing to these still-open wounds.
