 Programs Coordinator and Special Assistant to the Director

Description

The Department of Inter-Orthodox, Ecumenical & Interfaith Relations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America is seeking someone to fill the full-time position of Programs Coordinator & Special Assistant to the Director. The position will not only handle administrative tasks but also manage ongoing communication, creative projects, as well as ecumenical, interfaith, and United Nations portfolios.

Responsibilities

The following are non-exhaustive responsibilities:

  • Coordinate the Programs of the Department:

    • Engage social issues across partnerships at the United Nations and in the Orthodox Christian Church

    • Maintain partnerships, compliance, and build new relationships

    • Organize events related to the work of the Department or support larger events of the Archdiocese

    • Envision, organize and manage new projects and initiatives of the Department and collaborate with partners

    • Continue and build upon existing initiatives at the United Nations and for the Archdiocese, as seen fit by the full Department

  • Compile reports for:

    • Ecumenical Patriarchate

    • Department finances

    • Archdiocesan Council Meetings

    • Clergy-laity

    • Ongoing activities

  • Manage the Department’s communications including:

    • Phone correspondence

    • Written correspondence

    • Email correspondence

    • Monthly Newsletter

    • Social Media

  • Assist with:

    • Office supplies

    • Scheduling

    • Special projects

    • Processing finance requests

    • Keeping an organized archive of all documents, correspondence, activities, etc.

Requirements

  • 5+ experience in general event management, project management and administration

  • Fluent in English (verbal and written)

  • An undergraduate degree from a four-year accredited college or university

  • Applicants with a graduate degree will be given preference, though a graduate degree is not required

  • Basic knowledge of Orthodox Christian theology

  • Basic knowledge of the Orthodox Church’s structure

  • Intermediate to Expert level in word & data processing (especially Word and Excel/ Google Docs and Sheets)

  • Basic to Intermediate level in Graphic Design

  • Basic to Intermediate level in Social Media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)

  • Experienced with Zoom meetings and Zoom webinars (this can be learned-recommend making it “preferred “or taking it out)I’d make it preferred

  • Excellent Organizational and Communication Skills

  • Process oriented, adheres to or creates processes

  • Initiative-ability to manage time

  • Demonstrates strong multi-tasking ability

Beneficial but not required Skills

  • Basic video editing skills

  • Conversational Greek

Salary range: $60,000-65,000 a year plus benefits.
