In Greece, Gold Cross of St. Spyridon Awarded to Fr. Alex Karloutsos

Corfu—In Greece, the Metropolitan of Corfu conferred the Gold Cross of Saint Spyridon upon the Reverend Protopresbyter of the Ecumenical Throne, Father Alexander Karloutsos, known affectionately to all as “Father Alex,” on Friday September 2, 2022.

The honor came as part of a short visit to the island, the birthplace of his wife, Presbytera Xanthi, during a meeting with Metropolitan Nektarios of Corfu, Paxos and Diapontian Islands.

A pillar of the Greek-American community, Fr. Alex is the Proistamenos of The Dormition of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church of the Hamptons in Long Island, New York, as well as the spiritual advisor to both The Order of Saint Andrew Archons of the Ecumenical Patriarchate and The Patriarch Bartholomew Foundation, was recently honored by President Biden with America's most highest civilian honor, The Presidential Medal of Freedom.
