In a First, GOARCH Leadership Offers Benediction at NYC Mayor's Annual Prayer Breakfast
On Tuesday, February 28, on behalf of His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros of America, His Grace Bishop Athenagoras of Nazianzos, Chief Secretary of the Holy Eparchial Synod, delivered the benediction at the Annual Prayer Breakfast hosted by New York City Mayor Eric Adams at the New York Public Library. This is the first time the leadership of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America has been invited to give the benediction at this annual event.
Bishop Athenagoras started with no other than the prayer that Jesus Christ taught us during His time on earth, the Lord’s Prayer. His Grace also prayed the traditional liturgical petitions for the peace of the world, for the City of New York and its Mayor. As well as other traditional prayers that the Greek Orthodox Church has been praying for two thousand years.
Bishop Athenagoras humbly thanked NYC Mayor Adams for highlighting the importance of prayer and this blessed opportunity for the Greek Orthodox community of America.
