V. Rev. Dr. Anton Vrame Participates in Events at LMU Huffington Institute and Aristotle University

On January 21, 2022, Fr. Vrame, Director of Holy Cross Orthodox Press at Hellenic College Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology, recorded an episode of Huffington Orthodox-Catholic Conversations, sponsored by the Huffington Ecumenical Institute of Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles, California. The program, moderated by Sr. Vassa Larin, features one Orthodox and one Roman Catholic having an informal conversation on a specific topic. Fr. Vrame was in dialogue with Professor Christian Smith of the University of Notre Dame in South Bend, Indiana. Their conversation was on the religious faith of young people today and the challenges facing the two churches in retaining and engaging them with the life of the Church. Professor Smith is known for his groundbreaking work studying the religious lives of teenagers. Fr. Vrame is an internationally recognized expert in Orthodox Christian religious education. On January 28, Fr. Vrame delivered a keynote address to the Fourth PanHellenic Conference of Religion Teachers hosted by the Faculty of Theology of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki and the Laboratory of Pedagogy of the School of Theology in collaboration with the Regional Directorate of Primary and Secondary Education of Central Macedonia, Greece. His presentation, “Post-Covid Religious Education: New Challenges to Pedagogy” was delivered virtually. In this presentation, Fr. Vrame explored how the pandemic has challenged the foundations of religious education, requiring teachers to recommit to a basic principle of education of developing a community of learning that can inform, form, and transform the learner as an Orthodox Christian.
