Important Milestone in our Learning Community

Important Milestone in our Learning Community

On Saturday December 4, the Effective Christian Ministry Cohort successfully hosted its second Summit: a full-day event with presentations from both clergy and lay ministry leaders.

The ECM Cohort is a nine-month (September-May) learning community designed to help parish Teams implement the practices and principles of Effective Christian Ministry in their parish context.

Communities from a variety of Orthodox traditions are participating from across both the United States and Canada.

This Summit represents the halfway mark of the Cohort, as parish Teams shift their attention from learning to planning how they will implement the ECM practices and principles.

The Summit included four key presentations:

  • “Discerning Ministries for You and Your Parish” w/ Presbytera Julie Honeycutt, LPC
  • “Peacemaking in the Parish: Foundations of an Orthodox Response to Conflict” w/ Fr. Philip LeMasters, Ph.D.
  • “Young Adult Case Study” w/ Anna Sobchak
  • “Grounded in Christ and the Practices of Faith” w/ Steven Christoforou

The Cohort’s work will continue on Saturday, January 4 with a webinar by Father Seraphim Aldea (Abbot of Mull Monastery) on “Being Filled with Christ & the Practices of Self Emptying.”

More information about the Cohort is available at effectivechristianministry.org/cohort.

Registration for next year’s Cohort will open in the Spring.
