The Holy Apostles Philoptochos of Westchester, IL sponsors the “Blankets of Love” ministry every year. Philoptochos collects crocheted, knitted and fleece blankets and donates them to local organizations for needy and sick infants. They also collect monetary donations with which fleece and yarn are purchased so that members can make additional blankets.

This year, the Holy Apostles community was extremely generous with its donations, more than ever before. Enough money was collected that Philoptochos will be able to make blankets for the holidays as well. The organizations they work with requested fleece blankets this year because they hold up well to the COVID cleaning regimens in place.

Most of the blankets will be donated in the next few months to three area Ronald McDonald Houses and to a couple of women’s shelters. The rest will be made and donated to organizations hosting holiday gift giving events for needy families.
