Yesterday afternoon, January 26, 2023, His Eminence Archbishop Elpidophoros made a pastoral visit in Long Island to the family of Alessia Marie Maiolica, a young child who lost her parents tragically last year. His Eminence presented the family with a donation of $60,000 in support of Alessia. Parishes from throughout the Archdiocesan District came together to raise funds, especially the Church of Our Savior (Rye, NY), which raised $48,000.

 

The Archbishop also visited St. Isidoros Greek Orthodox Church in Bethpage, NY to view firsthand the destruction from a fire that occurred on January 24, 2023, and which severely damaged relics and iconography. The St. Isidoros parish follows the Patristic Calendar. After viewing the destruction, His Eminence presented a donation of $10,000 in support and solidarity to assist in the rebuilding of the church.
