Archbishop Demetrios to Celebrate Divine Liturgy Followed by Memorial Service for Victims of Sept. 11 and Service of Thanksgiving and Help for Survivors and Families, Sunday, Sept. 30th

New York, NY – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, will celebrate the Divine Liturgy on Sunday, September 30th at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity (319 East 74th St.) beginning at 10:00 a.m. The Liturgy will be followed by a Memorial Service for the victims of the tragedy of September 11th and an Artoclasia (Service of Thanksgiving and Help) for the survivors, their families, the Orthodox faithful and the Nation.

Invited to participate in this special prayer and memorial service are Father John Romas, pastor of the St. Nicholas Church, which was destroyed in the Twin Towers attack and members of his congregation, members of the diplomatic corps of Greece and Cyprus, members of the Saint Paul Society, the organization of all Eastern Orthodox law enforcement agents of the NYPD, Greek Orthodox members of the fire department, survivors of the tragedy and families of the victims from throughout the Greater New York area.

The Service will be followed by a reception in the Cathedral Center expressive of Christian solidarity, unity and love. The public is invited to attend this special service of remembrance, thanksgiving and prayer for help.
