2018 Professional Development Seminar of the Direct Archdiocesan District

The Direct Archdiocesan District Office of Education is pleased to announce that the annual Professional Development Seminar will be held on Tuesday, November 6th (Election Day), at St. Demetrios High School in Astoria. The Seminar aims at offering in-service training to teachers who serve in District’s Greek-American day schools as well as the Greek afternoon/Saturday schools.

Held under the auspices of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America, the Seminar will include a series of presentations and workshops for the teachers of the English program of the New York City parochial day schools with the general theme “Using Data to Drive Instruction”.

For the Greek program, our Office has invited two exceptional educators – Mrs. Kalliopi Amygdalou-Dimitrakopoulos - Μ.Ed in Bilingual, ESL, Multicultural Concentration/ University of Massachusetts, and Mrs. Anna Sakkis, manager of the “Ellinopoula Project”.  In the first session, Mrs. Amygdalou will refer to the “The Impact of the Comprehensive Examination in Modern Greek as a foreign language achievement test”. In the second session, Mrs. Sakkis will present the new educational program “Ellinopoula Project” through interactive learning.

We kindly invite all the teachers of the Direct Archdiocesan District as well as those serving in the neighboring areas to attend the November 6th Professional Development Seminar. We hope that you will find the workshops interesting and useful.
