College Ministry - OCF

The mission of Orthodox Christian Fellowship (OCF) is to support fellowships on college campuses, whose members experience and witness to the Orthodox Christian Church through community life, prayer, service to others and study of the Faith (Acts 2:42). Furthermore, OCF will work to nurture and strengthen love for Jesus Christ and His Church in its fullness at this most critical juncture of human life through: Communication between OCF's and with the larger Orthodox community, Development of resources for local OCF's, National endeavors such as College Conference, Real Break, website and a national newsletter.

International Charities

The International Orthodox Christian Charities mandate is to undertake purely humanitarian activities. In an effort to bring assistance to the poor and to mobilize all Orthodox Christians to its efforts, IOCC has adopted a grassroots approach. Metropolitan Committees have been established in cities throughout the United States and Canada, where parishioners are offered the chance to assist those in need and to engage their fellow parishioners and local communities in support of humanitarian assistance programs.

Internet Ministries

The mission of Internet Ministries is to follow the commandment of our Lord Jesus Christ who said: "Go into all the world and proclaim the good news to the whole creation" (Mark 16.15). The Department of Internet Ministries is responsible for identifying, leveraging, and developing technologies appropriate for Orthodox Christian digital ministry. Internet Ministries is dedicated to wielding technology for the proclamation of the Good News of the Gospel and for the advancement of Orthodox Christian ministry.

Ionian Village

Teens and young adults that participate in Ionian Village travel across Greece, venerate the relics of saints, walk in the footsteps of the Apostles, and visit significant sites of Greek history and culture. Ionian Village is a unique summer camping program located in Greece and operated by the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Located in Greece, Ionian Village offers its participants a unique experience that is unavailable elsewhere. At the end of the program, staff and campers return to their homes with strengthened faith and with a greater appreciation for the Church and for Greek culture and heritage.

Philanthropy

The task of the Department of Philanthropy is to further develop and coordinate the philanthropic work of the Archdiocese of America. Working closely with various community organizations, particularly the Ladies Philoptochos Society, this Department coordinates the philanthropic work of the Church on a national level wherever the need arises. The Department of Philanthropy creates an awareness of people with special needs so that our community-the faithful within parishes and Church-affiliated organizations-will reach out and embrace them.

Philoptochos Society

The dedicated labor of the faithful Greek Orthodox women of the Philoptochos Society across the United States promotes the charitable, benevolent and philanthropic purposes of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America by instructional programming, presentations, lectures, seminars and other educational resources. They voluntarily aid the poor, the destitute, the hungry, the aged, the sick, the unemployed, the orphaned, the imprisoned, the widowed, the handicapped, the victims of disasters, to undertake the burial of impoverished persons and to offer assistance to anyone who may need the help of the Church through special funds or solicitations on the local level.

Religious Education

The purpose of the Department of Religious Education (DRE) is to serve the parishes and metropolises of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America by providing materials and services that will advance their programs of religious education. Programs include: Multimedia Instructional Technology, Praxis (Quarterly Magazine), the Internet School of Orthodox Studies (ISOS), and an "Annual Resource Companion" (ARC). DOXA, the Religious Educators Association, was specifically created to advance the educational initiatives of the Archdiocesan Department of Religious Education.

Saint Basil Academy

Saint Basil Academy is a residential child care center, providing a home away from home for the Church's least fortunate children. In most cases, the children the Academy serves come from families who have fallen on bad times because of a death, sickness, financial reversal, or a dysfunctional family situation. Each child's spiritual, physical, educational, emotional and social needs are addressed in chapel, classroom and recreation settings.

Saint Michael's Home for the Aged is a New York State-Department of Social Services certified residential adult care facility of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. The programs and services of St. Michael's Home are specifically designed for those individuals who seek assisted living in a Greek Orthodox environment. Applicants on SSI are accepted, and the Home, as a nonprofit institution, depends on the generosity of its many friends to be able to fulfill its-special mission. At Saint Michael Home, every effort is made to maintain the physical and intellectual integrity of the residents while encouraging them to preserve their independence and dignity.

Stewardship

Orthodox Christian Stewardship is a way of life, which acknowledges accountability, reverence, and responsibility before God. A primary goal of Stewardship is to promote spiritual growth and strengthen faith. Becoming a Steward begins when we believe in God, to whom we give our love, loyalty and trust and act on those beliefs. As Stewards, we affirm that every aspect of our lives comes as a gift from Him. Trinity Children and Family Services (TCFS) is a not-for-profit, multi-service agency serving the needs of children requiring out-of-home placement through residential/treatment and foster family programs. We have one mission: to help children heal who have been damaged by abuse, neglect, or abandonment and return them to society and family. The children can then begin to reclaim their right to pursue successful and fulfilling lives.

Youth & Young Adult

The Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries 1) enables youth workers and young people to fully experience the Orthodox Faith, 2) assists local parishes and metropolises in creating and sustaining youth and young adult ministries, and 3) creates youth and young adult resources which are disseminated throughout our Archdiocese. The Department of Youth and Young Adult Ministries oversees the Office of Camping Ministries and Campus Ministries in addition to working with JOY (Junior Orthodox Youth), GOYA (Greek Orthodox Youth of America), YAL (Young Adult League), OCF (Orthodox Christian Fellowship), EOCS (Eastern Orthodox Committee on Scouting) and the Altar Boys.
