Prayer Service at Saint Nicholas Site, World Trade Center

NEW YORK – His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America will lead a special Prayer Service at the World Trade Center site where the Church of St. Nicholas will be rebuilt, tomorrow Thursday Dec. 6, 3:00 p.m., the feast day of St. Nicholas the Wonderworker, the Patron Saint of the Church, which was destroyed on September 11, 2001.
On this solemn day, parishioners of the St. Nicholas Church, will be joined by faithful from the many other parishes of the New York metropolitan area, to observe the Feast Day of their Church and to unite in prayer as the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America prepares to rebuilt the historic church which stood at that site since 1916, and was the only house of worship destroyed on 9/11.
Access to location for the service will be through the gate at the corner of Liberty and Greenwich streets, diagonally across from the firehouse.
Earlier in the day, Archbishop Demetrios will preside at the Divine Liturgy for the feast of Saint Nicholas at the Greek Orthodox Shrine Church of St. Nicholas in Flushing, NY, 196-10 Northern Blvd.
