Philoptochos Hosts Children's Medical Fund Luncheon, Benefits Area Hospitals and Children's Programs

Under the High Patronage of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, and with the spiritual blessings of His Grace Bishop Andonios of Phasiane, the Direct Archdiocesan District Philoptochos will host the Thirteen National Philoptochos Children’s Medical Fund Luncheon, “Let Us Rejoice and Embrace The Children,” on Saturday, December 3, 2011 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Old Greenwich, Connecticut at 11:00 am.

The Children’s Medical Fund has made a positive difference in the lives of children in the United States and Ethiopia by donating approximately $2.2 Million to medical programs and facilities that offer care, treatment, innovative research and cures.

Highlighting the luncheon as the guest speaker is Dr. George Coukos, MD, PhD, a leading investigator in the field of tumor immunology and one of the most innovative investigators in ovarian cancer in the nation.  His work focuses on fundamental discovery in the area of tumor vascular and immune biology and the development of novel approaches to immune therapy in the lab and the clinic. Ms. Andrea Tantaros, nationally recognized Fox News Political Commentator, will serve as Master of Ceremonies and the internationally renowned Archdiocesan Children’s Choir will present a glorious musical performance.  Special honors will be presented to His Grace Bishop Andonios for his guidance as National Philoptochos Advisor and Mrs. Evangeline Mekras Scurtis, Chairman of the Twelfth Children’s Medical Fund Luncheon.
