PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release:

May 28, 1997

Archbishop Spyridon convened a meeting of all New Jersey Diocese clergy at St. Thomas Greek Orthodox Church in Cherry Hill, NJ, on May 27.

The agenda included a series of reports and an address by His Eminence who spoke on four themes; an enhanced liturgical life in the churches, improved methods in teaching religious education, the need for the Church to make its sacramental presence felt to &qout;the man in the street&qout;, and the importance of unity in faith and action.

The Archbishop also told the priests: &qout;There should be no competition between parishes; there should be no friction between parishes and their respective dioceses; there should be no conflict between the dioceses and the Archdiocese; and there should be no separation between the Archdiocese and the Ecumenical Patriarchate.&qout;

Seventy-five priests attended the New Jersey Diocese Syndesmos meeting.
