PRESS RELEASE

For Immediate Release:

Archbishop Spyridon at Hellenic College/Holy Cross and Boston Theological Institute Affirmation

NEW YORK.- His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon presided over the Executive Committee Meeting of the Board of Trustees at Hellenic College/Holy Cross on Tuesday, March 17, 1998. As Chairman of the Board, His Eminence has attended every meeting of the Executive Committee, as well as that of the entire Board of Trustees, encouraging a spirit of cooperation in promoting the goals of the Institution.

In addition to the support received by the Board of Trustees, the administration and the faculty, the students continue to receive the unqualified support of the Boston Theological Institute (BTI), the foremost consortium of theological schools in the United States.

In a recent letter (2/13/98) to the Acting Dean of Holy Cross, the Executive Director of the BTI, The Rev. Rodney L. Peterson, reflected on last year’s visit of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew to the School and the relationship between the BTI and Holy Cross.

“I was honored to meet with His All Holiness immediately prior to the assembly. At that time he affirmed the invitation that we bring a group of faculty and students to the Phanar. . . . As you are well aware, the BTI continues to support Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology. The school is a vital member of the consortium, sharing in and participating fully in administrative, program, and academic affairs.”
