Diocese of Chicago Hosts Informal Gathering of Synod

New York, NY-His Eminence Archbishop Spyridon, Primate of the Greek Orthodox Church of America, will hold an informal gathering with members of the Holy Eparchial Synod at the Diocese of Chicago on July 15, 1999.
This marks the first time that Synod members who have been accorded the honor of the rank of Metropolitan will meet with their new counterparts: His Grace Bishop of Alexios of Atlanta; His Grace Bishop George of New Jersey; and His Grace Bishop Nicholas of Detroit. Since becoming enthroned, the newly elected bishops have had the opportunity to meet with the Archbishop.
The Holy Eparchial Synod meets formally in Synod semi-annually during the regular fall and spring sessions of the Archdiocesan Council of which all bishops are members.
