Archbishop Demetrios to Be Enthroned on September 18th at Holy Trinity Cathedral

New York, NY - His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios will be enthroned as Greek Orthodox Archbishop of America on Saturday, September 18th at the Archdiocesan Cathedral of the Holy Trinity beginning at 11:00 a.m. An Enthronement Luncheon will follow at the Waldorf Astoria Hotel at 1:00 p.m.
According to His Grace Bishop George of New Jersey, Archiepiscopal Vicar, he was informed by His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios in Athens, that he is tentatively planning to arrive in the United States on September 16th.
His Eminence Archbishop Iakovos, who retired in 1996 as Archbishop of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America, will preside at the Enthronement Ceremonies at the request of His All Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
On Sunday, September 19th, Archbishop Demetrios will concelebrate the Divine Liturgy with the five Metropolitans and three Diocesan Bishops of the Archdiocese of America at Holy Trinity Cathedral beginning at 9:00 a.m.
