Apr 21, 2000
New York - Orthodox Christians from around the world may now send electronic greeting cards for Holy Week and Easter (Pascha) free of charge via the Internet. The Holy Week and Easter cards are the result of the ongoing, cooperative effort with Blue Mountain Arts, the premiere electronic greeting card provider on the Internet, and the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Internet Ministries. The free electronic greeting cards are available from both the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America web site at: http://www.goarch.org and via Blue Mountain Arts' Web site at: http://www.bluemountain.com.
In addition to the Holy Week and Easter cards, approximately 150 Orthodox Christian electronic greeting cards are currently available online. These cards cover the12 major feasts of the Orthodox Church as well as the feast days of major saints.
Individuals from around the world have sent over 125,000 cards in the 12 months that the Orthodox Christian greeting cards have been available. In the near future, the Orthodox Christian card section will be expanded to include special occasion cards, such as baptisms, engagements, weddings, ordinations, and encouragement.
