Orthodox Christian Network Announces Premiere Program: Orthodox Unity in America - Is it Possible?

The Orthodox Christian Network announces the national radio program topic for the week. On its premier program &qout;Come Receive the Light &qout; will discuss the issue of Orthodox Christian unity in America. This is a topic that has received wide attention over the last several years in America. The show which airs this Saturday on WLVJ 640Am dial from 9am-10am in South Florida and live over the internet at www.receive.org or www.goarch.org (click the live programming applet) will look into this issue at length.
The guest speaker is known throughout the Orthodox world as a clergyman of dedication, knowledge and authority. The V. Rev. Michel Najim is an Arab-American theologian, patristics scholar, and translator. After receiving his M.Div. at the St. John of Damascus School of Theology (1974) in Lebanon, he obtained his M.Th. at the Aristotelian University (1976) in Salonica , Greece and his Th.D (1985) with excellence from the same institution. He was the professor of patristics, history and languages at the St. John School (1978-87) in Lebanon while concurrently serving as dean (1980-87). Active in ecumenical affairs he was a World Council of Churches
Commissioner of Mission and Evangelism (1983-89). After moving to the United States with his wife and family he taught patristics and participated in academic community life at the St. Athanasios School of Antiochian Evangelical Orthodox Mission of North ! America. He has served as a chairman of the Department of liturgics and translation, visiting professor at the Antiochian House of Studies in cooperation with the Pittsburgh Theological, Pa. In addition to his personal duties in a large parish in Los Angeles, California, Fr. Najim also serves as part of the motivating workforce behind the newly formed Liturgical Translations Committee of the Standing Conference of Orthodox Bishops in America. Fluent in English, Greek, Arabic and French, Fr. Najim has translated numerous works.
Fr. Najim will discuss the issue of Orthodox unity in America in three perspectives: liturgical unity, doctrinal unity and administrative unity. In addition he will discuss, with the program hosts, the issue of what is prosperity and the pursuit of happiness according to the teachings of the Orthodox Christian faith, and the reconciliation of God with His creation.
