Memorial Service for Archbishop Iakovos to be Held May 22

New York - His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios will preside at a 40 Day Memorial Service for the repose of the soul of former Archbishop Iakovos on Sunday, May 22, 2005. The service will take place following Divine Liturgy at the Cathedral of the Holy Trinity in New York City (319 East 74th Street).
According to an announcement by the Ecumenical Patriarchate, a Memorial Service for Archbishop Iakovos, will also be offered this Sunday at the Patriarchal Cathedral of St. George in Constantinople.
Additionally, all parishes of the Holy Archdiocese in America have been instructed to conduct similar services on the same day in memory of the former spiritual leader of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of North and South America.
On Friday, May 20, exactly 40 days following the death of Archbishop Iakovos, Archbishop Demetrios will offer a Trisagion Service at the burial site located on the grounds of Hellenic College/Holy Cross Greek Orthodox School of Theology in Brookline, MA.
