Archdiocese Greek Education Department Staff Development Seminar to be Held November 16

New York, NY - The Greek Orthodox Archdiocese Department of Greek Education will hold its Annual Staff Development Seminar on Tuesday, November 16, 2004 at the Greek American Institute of the Zoodochos Peghe Church in the Bronx.
Held under the auspices of His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America, the Seminar aims at offering the best in-service training to teachers serving in the day schools and afternoon Greek schools of the Direct Archdiocesan District and the entire tri-state area NY, NJ and CT. Greek teachers will have the opportunity to attend the following presentations:
1) "Integrating the Study of Greek Language and Culture - Current Trends in Language Acqusition and Instruction" by Mrs. Kleanthi Mavrogiannaki, an educator with specialization in Linguistics.
2) "My School's Greek Curriculum" by educators in-charge of the Greek Studies program of several parochial day schools.
3) "The New Publications of the University of Crete" by Mr. Nikos Nikolidakis, Counselor of Education, Greek Ministry of Education.
For the first time, the Departments of Youth and Young Adults Ministries and Internet Ministries of the Archdiocese will be participating in the Seminar to discuss the programs they offer. Following are the workshops for the English curriculum of day schools:

The principals of the parochial day schools have officially designated November 16th, as "staff development day" for their teaching staff, and all day schools will remain closed on that day.
