    His All-Holiness Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew, spiritual leader of over 300 million Orthodox Christian faithful worldwide, will join Pope Francis at the Vatican for a prayer summit on the evening of June 8, 2014 in an intensive spiritually-focused initiative for Middle East peace process. Together with the Pope and the Ecumenical Patriarch, the Israeli President Shimon Peres and Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas will participate in an interfaith prayer service of Muslims, Jews and Christians for peace in the region.

    The Archdiocesan Council of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America convened for its regular spring meeting May 1-2 in Washington, DC, under the chairmanship of Archbishop Demetrios of America. Present at the meeting were Metropolitans Methodios of Boston and Savas of Pittsburgh and Bishops Andonios of Phasiane and Sevastianos of Zela. The other members of the Synod, absent from the meeting, were unable to attend.

    During the Holy Synaxis of the Primates of the Orthodox Churches, which took place in Constantinople on March 6-9, 2014, the Prelates, through a unanimous vote, agreed to form separate Assemblies of Canonical Orthodox Bishops in Canada and in the United States of America. They further agreed to incorporate the hierarchs of Central America into the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of Latin America.
