WASHINGTON, March 25, 2011 - President Barack Obama welcomed His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios of America and congratulated the Greek-American Community for the 190th Anniversary of Greek Independence Day in the White House East Room. It was the 25th celebration and reception of its kind hosted by a U.S. President at the White House.
President Obama met in private with the Archbishop in the Green Room of the White House for about 10 minutes immediately preceeding the public event which started at around 4:40 in the afternoon.
