His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios Names Andrew Manatos Chairman of 39th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress

NewYork, NY - Archbishop Demetrios of America has named Andrew ManatosChairman of the 39th Biennial Clergy Laity Congress of the GreekOrthodox Archdiocese of America to be held July 13-18 at the MarriottWardman Park Hotel, Washington, DC.

The Clergy Laity Congress isthe highest legislative body of the Archdiocese and convenes bienniallywith close to two thousand delegates representing Greek OrthodoxParishes from across the entire United States of America.

Presidentof Manatos & Manatos, Inc., a public policy company in Washington,DC, Mr. Manatos serves on the Archdiocesan Council and has been anArchon of the Ecumenical Patriarchate for over 20 years, servingcurrently as regional commander. A former Assistant Secretary ofCommerce in the Carter Administration, he serves on the board ofseveral Hellenic organizations, including the Hellenic-America HeritageCouncil and the Coordinated Effort of Hellenes.

His EminenceArchbishop Demetrios commented, "Mr. Manatos and the Manatos familyrepresent a significant presence in our Nation's Capital and have beenvery helpful to Orthodoxy and Hellenism worldwide.
