Parish Ministries: Grief and Bereavement/Challenge Ministry Presented by: Panel: Mrs. Kay Pamas, Chairman - Grief and Bereavement Support Group - Cathedral of Saint Paul - Hempstead, NY Mr. Manny and Mrs. Marina Katsoulis - Founders and Coordinators - Challenge Ministry - Archangel Michael Church - Roslyn, NY This workshop will focus on two unique ministries of parishes in the New York area. First, Mrs. Pamas will present the focus, history, and methods of the Grief and Bereavement program of the Saint Paul Cathedral. The session "Losing Someone Close" will focus on how this ministry can help people answer the questions "How can I go on?"; Will the pain go away?"; and "Will I recover?". In the second part of the session, Mr. Manny and Mrs. Marina Katsoulis will present the history and scope of the Challenge Ministry of the Archangel Michael Church. Since May of 1990, on the third Saturday of each month, the Challenge Liturgy has been celebrated at the parish. It is a special Divine Liturgy for physically and mentally challenged Orthodox Christians, their families, friends and members of the church community. This special ministry also includes various events throughout the year that enhance the offering of faith and love.
