Archdiocese Website - www.goarch.org In 2002, Internet Ministries launched a new web site for the Archdiocese. This new web site, made possible by a grant from Leadership 100, offers new and revolutionary tools for Archdiocesan communications and parish ministry. The new site contains dozens of new features including: a completely new site design, a new calendar of saints lives, an online chapel with the daily Gospel and Epistle readings, a module to assist parishes build their weekly bulletin online, a searchable national calendar of events, weekly video programs, and a new online parish directory. Bulletin Builder is a revolutionary tool created to assist parishes in their ministry. Built by the Department of Internet Ministries, through the generous vision and support of Leadership 100, Bulletin Builder will enable you to build the various parts of your parish bulletin online and then publish your finished bulletin on your parish website, via email, and as a printed booklet. To begin building your bulletin, go to http://www.bulletin.goarch.org/ Databases - MSAccess / ODBC / MySQL Internet Ministries offers Database setups for any website that is being hosted for a small fee. For MySQL, General ODBC, or Microsoft Access setups, there is a one time $25 set up fee. For Multiple database setups, there is a $40 set up fee. For your website, you will need a domain name. You can register a your own domain with a public registrar or we can create a domain name for free through goarch.org. Your parish web site address would follow the pattern of your parish name, followed by the 2 letter abbreviation of your state, , followed by “goarch.org”. So if your parish was Saint George in Brockton, Massachusetts, your address could be: stgeorge.ma.goarch.org. See our FAQs for more information. Through the Archdiocese servers, we offer parishes free email hosting for your parish domain name. Please begin by filling out the services request form to begin the process. If you already have your website hosted with us, fill out a help desk request to activate your email accounts. Once connected, you will be able to check your email via a POP3 client or through a web interface. LISTSERV sets the standard for e-mail list management software. It allows users to create and maintain e-mail lists on the Internet. List sizes can range from a few participants in a discussion group to several million in a newsletter. LISTSERV is renowned for its flexibility, scalability and time-tested performance. Utilizing this software, we are able to give every parish a number of free listserv accounts. A member may join or leave the list whenever he or she wants. The personal e-mail addresses of the individual list members are protected and kept confidential. The list messages are automatically turned into searchable web archives every time e-mail is sent out. Internet Ministries offers FTP storage for a small fee. See our pricing chart or contact the department for more information. Online Chapel Home Page Snippet Do you use the Online Chapel for your daily readings and lives of the Saints? If you would like to extend this ministry to the visitors of your parish website, you may want to consider signing up for the Online Chapel Home Page snippet. For more information, contact our Department. At this time, the Online Chapel Home Page Snippet is only available for parishes that are physically hosted on the Archdiocese web server and are using ASP as a server side scripting language. For a sample, check out http://www.sngoc.org Online News Ticker and Database Customized and delivered straight to your website, the Department of Internet Ministries will create a news database, home page news ticker with the most recent news items, and an admin interface to make it easy for you to get the most recent news from your website online. For a sample, check out http://www.stvasilios.org/ Parish and Metropolis Webmasters Network The Department of Internet Ministries has created a new online collaborative network for Orthodox Christian web developers and webmasters. This "webmasters" network allows individuals who are developing parish web sites, involved in their organization's web strategy, or who wish to interact with and learn from other Orthodox Christian Internet professionals the opportunity to communicate and collaborate. The Department continues to offer free web hosting for parishes and organizations of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America. Canonical Orthodox parishes (those under SCOBA) who are not part of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America will receive a discounted rate for web hosting. Each template package comes with a ready-to-go HTML page, supplementary graphics, dynamic templates (PHP, ASP), and the original Photoshop design file.
