Technology Safety

The Department of Internet Ministries is honored to represent His Eminence Archbishop Demetrios and the Archdiocese on the executive committee of the Religious Alliance Against Pornography (RAAP). RAAP continues to work with the major US Wireless carriers to protect minors from the threat of adult content on mobile devices. In 2012, the Department of Internet Ministries and US Catholic Conference of Bishops partnered to develop a joint Internet and Mobile Safety guide for parents. The focus of the guide will be using technology appropriately and safely through the eyes of faith, covering topics such as safety with surfing the Internet, cell phones, social media, search engines, cyber bullying, and other relevant topics parents often face.

Presentations and Workshops

Staff from the Department of Internet Ministries travel nationally to conduct lectures and presentations on a variety of topics related to the Church’s use of technology and how parishes can use modern technologies effectively as tools for evangelism and outreach.

Assembly of Bishops Website and Pan-Orthodox Technology

The Department of Internet Ministries has been integral in the development of the website for the Assembly of Canonical Orthodox Bishops of North and Central America. A major component of the website is the multi-jurisdictional parish directory which receives updates automatically from each jurisdiction.
