Mission

The Office of Education of the Direct Archdiocesan District has the following responsibilities:

  • The Office is the liaison for the NYC Greek American parochial day schools (or faith-based) to the education authorities at the Federal, State, and City levels.  As an avid advocate of the parochial day schools, the Office is represented by its director as follows: 1) on the Standing Committee of New York City Religious & Independent Schools Officials, a coalition of faith based school representatives and private educational entities and 2) on the New York State Commissioner’s Advisory Council for the Nonpublic Schools. The participation of the Education Office director in various conferences and committees ensures that the NYC day schools receive their fare-share of the federally funded services and materials, thereby benefiting thousands of students.
  • Furthermore, the Office provides curriculum guides, materials, and in-service training to the administrators and teachers serving in the parochial day and afternoon schools of the District.
